Centennial Olympic Stadium

Building / campus wayfinding and signage design

Jones Worley was a member of the Atlanta Stadium Design Team (a joint venture of Heery International, Rosser International, Williams-Russell & Johnson, and Ellerbe Becket) selected to design the marquee venue that was host to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. Jones Worley’s role was to develop a permanent-base sign system design for the $209-million, 85,000-seat Centennial Olympic Stadium. The signage was planned to allow for future reconfiguration to accommodate a retrofit for a 45,000-seat Major League Baseball stadium (Turner Field) for the Atlanta Braves.

The Centennial Olympic Stadium was just one of six Olympic stadiums for which Jones Worley managed the wayfinding, signage, and graphics program in collaboration with multidisciplinary design teams and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG). Jones Worley was the only female-owned agency selected out of 490 firms to be on the commissioned team.
